Since the Covid-19 Pandemic took hold, local accountants and business advisers Howard Worth have been helping their client’s through the difficult trading conditions that the nationwide lockdown created.
Even though supporting clients has been the practice’s focus over the last four months, it has not overlooked how important its employees are and has been able to celebrate and reward a number of them for their years of service in 2020.
To date, a number of staff have received awards from the practice for 5, 10, 15 and even 20 years in employment. Five members of the team have collectively accrued a total of 60 years’ service, not including two of the partners who are celebrating milestones, Gary Makin who leads the Howard Worth Financial Services, joined the practice in 2005 before being made partner in 2018 and Farming Partner, Richard Barnett, who on the 23rd of June marked his 40th year at Howard Worth.
The first awards were celebrated in early March, before Lockdown, with Sarah Porter, Marketing Executive and Lorraine McMahon, Financial Services Administrator receiving their gifts from the practice for five- and ten-years’ service respectively. Both were presented their awards while still office based. As working from home took over, it was essential that the employees were still recognised for their commitment to the business. The partner team arranged for individuals to receive hampers and vouchers delivered directly to their home addresses.
Sales and Purchase Ledger Administrator, Sally Booth, celebrated her ten-year work anniversary at the start of June “I didn’t think I would be celebrating ten years with the practice working from my kitchen table! I am usually surrounded by my work colleagues and we regularly have lunches out to celebrate different occasions, so we would probably have gone somewhere nice for a bite to eat for my long service award. Obviously, this wasn’t an option during Lockdown, but to receive video calls from some of my colleagues and partners and to have a lovely hamper and vouchers delivered was a lovely surprise and made me feel all my effort is really appreciated”.
Partner Fran Johnson said “Howard Worth recognises that its success is very much linked to the amazing team it employs. By rewarding staff for their commitment to the business we get the opportunity to say thank you and to show that we value their hard work and dedication. The Covid-19 Pandemic has changed many things, but not our continued investment in our workforce and by delivering ongoing support and updates to our staff we are ensuring that our business emerges from Lockdown ready to move forward and help our clients rebuild and recover from the challenges faced in 2020.”
